Mountain Star Estates - Rangeley, Maine

A Mountain Star Estates wedding in Rangeley, Maine means your guests wake up on the property, walk through to the venue with coffee in hand, and end the night under a mountain sunset without ever getting in a car. That was exactly why Noah and Nolwenn chose it — and it shaped the entire day.

How They Met (And Why This Day Mattered)
They met on a random hike around a lake. Two strangers who felt drawn to each other and kept walking.
This wedding brought together two worlds: Nolwenn’s European family — some traveling from France — and Noah’s Aroostook County roots. Friends from school, work, and different seasons of their lives all gathered in one place. It wasn’t just a wedding. It was an intersection of communities.
Noah was in school with our son-in-law and had eaten at our table during their training years. Nolwenn had attended a wedding I photographed and told me she wanted the same calm, professional presence she experienced as a guest. That trust started long before the engagement session.

Why Mountain Star Estates
Mountain Star Estates offered something practical and meaningful: lodging for their large families, coordinated planning support, bar service onsite, and ceremony and reception locations with unobstructed views over Rangeley Lake.
The property allowed everyone to stay together for the weekend. That changes the pace of a wedding. No shuttles. No scattered hotels. Just time.
And the view over the lake at sunset is the reason so many couples plan a Mountain Star Estates wedding in the first place.
The Start of the Day
Summer in the western mountains of Maine can be unpredictable, but this day was steady — warm sun, blue sky, and a clear horizon.

The wedding party wore shades of green and black tuxes grounded the look. Guests arrived in formal evening attire, which elevated the entire atmosphere without feeling forced.

Nolwenn wore a gown by Maggie Sottero — structured, clean lines, nothing excessive.

Florals by Ginger Raymond-Stevens layered natural texture into the tablescapes. The venue’s vintage sofa anchored the reception space and became a gathering spot throughout the evening.
Details were cohesive without competing for attention.
Their First Look and Private Vows
Before the ceremony, Noah and Nolwenn chose a private first look.
They exchanged personal vows quietly, without an audience. This is something I often recommend when couples want to stay present later in the day. It allows space to feel everything without a timeline pressing in.

When the ceremony began, they weren’t overwhelmed. They were settled.
The Ceremony Overlooking Rangeley Lake
Family surrounded them in this traditional celebration.
Guests who had flown across the Atlantic stood alongside their new Maine friends and family. That blend of accents, histories, and generations was noticeable in the best way.

After the ceremony, guests moved into the reception barn for dinner catered by Mid-Coast Catering. Music from Ryan Gavin kept the dance floor active well into the night, and cake by Katie Emerson was served as the sky shifted toward evening.

Golden Hour on the Property
From their sunrise engagement session to sunset portraits on the wedding day, Noah and Nolwenn trusted my process.
I don’t over-pose. I give prompts and let couples move naturally. That approach matters most during golden hour, when the light over Rangeley Lake softens and you only have a short window.
We stepped away just as the sun dropped behind the mountains. No rushing. No stiff direction. Just space for them to be together. Golden hour doesn’t need embellishment. The lake, the horizon line, and the quiet at that time of day do the work.

The Evening
Dinner turned into long and fun filled night. European relatives met Maine locals and found common ground on the dance floor. Guests lingered. No one seemed in a hurry to leave.

The next day, Nolwenn wrote:
“I’ve been in such awe at your work! Every photo is so amazing. Thank you for all of your hard work Cat!”
That response is always the goal — not just beautiful images, but an experience that felt steady and supported from beginning to end.
